CTC-CK – Serving the Community for 75 Years!

For 75 years, the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent (CTC-CK) has been providing services for children and youth with physical, developmental and communication needs in our community.

Families saw the need for local, specialized services for their children and founded the Centre in 1948. Through the Centre, families felt they could support one another, enrich their children’s lives and futures, and have a lasting impact on the CK community. It is this spirit that has guided the Centre through the last 75 years and will continue to now and into the future.

On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, the Centre held a 75th Birthday Celebration for past and present clients and families, and community partners. Those that attended enjoyed an opportunity to re-connect, make new friendships, play together, and enjoy a BBQ, live music, face painting, crafts, games and treats. Everyone was greeted by the Centre’s new Youth Action Team who will be bringing their voices into future planning.

“This celebration marks a great milestone and sense of accomplishment and pride,” says Donna Litwin-Makey, CTC-CK Executive Director. “In an ever-changing environment, the Centre has remained a steadfast resource for our community, offering services and programs to enhance the lives of children and youth in Chatham-Kent. The gathering was huge success, and it was so wonderful to see families, alumni, community partners, and staff in attendance”.

The Centre was honoured to receive certificates and plaques from dignitaries including CK Mayor Darrin Canniff, Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton, Chatham-Kent- Leamington MPP Trevor Jones and Chatham-Kent-Leamington MP Dave Epp.

The CTC-CK is very thankful for the hard work and dedication of its staff. Their daily commitment to supporting our clients is truly amazing. The exceptional support from the community, donors, our Board of Directors, Foundation, Province and Municipality and partners has always played an integral part in our success.

We celebrate all of the accomplishments of the past 75 years, and look forward to all the excitement, energy and potential ahead!
