Service Update for Families – Starting September 2026

Service Update for Families – Starting September 2026
Following our Ministry directives, we are making an important change to support children as they start school and move through the school years.
Currently, all students in JK and SK at publicly funded schools are supported through the CTC-CK’s Community-Based Rehabilitation Services for Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Therapy needs. Students in Grade 1 and older are supported through our School Based Rehabilitation Services and School Board Speech Services for language needs.
Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, the CTC-CK School Based Rehabilitation Services Program will start when a child enters school forPhysiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech services. This change supports smoother transitions and more consistent services as children begin and progress through school. As per Ministry directives, language needs will be referred to the school board at school entry.
What Does This Mean?
Starting in September 2026, children in Full-Day Kindergarten through high school who meet eligibility criteria will have access to the CTC-CK School Based Rehabilitation Services Program. For the 2026–27 school year, this includes:
- Children starting JK/SK
- Children entering SK
- Children entering Grade 1
School Based Rehabilitation Services Will Continue to Include:
- Occupational Therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Speech Therapy (articulation, fluency, and voice)
Services will focus on helping children participate and engage at school, working closely with school teams. We will provide support and share more details as they become available. Thank you for your patience and continued support as we work to strengthen services for children and families.
