Policies

Attendance Policy

If your child is unable to attend an appointment, you must call as soon as possible to inform the staff about your absence and to rebook.

If you miss two scheduled appointments for an assessment or reassessment with no notice, your child will be automatically discharged from that service. A re-referral would be needed for you to access service again.

We would like to ensure we have the correct contact information for you.   If you have moved, changed your address or phone number, please let us know asap.

Therapy

Regular attendance during therapy is the best way to ensure you and your child get the most out of the service.

If your child misses two scheduled appointments during a block of therapy, the service will be discontinued.

Please discuss any planned absences with your therapist.

If the therapist cancels the appointment, the missed appointment will be made up.

Late Policy

The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent understands that there are times when you may be late for an appointment (poor weather, car problems, etc).

It is the policy of the CTC that if a child comes to an appointment more than 15 minutes late, the appointment will be cancelled.

For group therapy sessions, children who are more than 15 minutes late will not be allowed to attend the group for that session.

If you think you are going to be late for any session, please call ahead and inform your therapist or the receptionist.

Medication & Allergies

If your child has a severe allergy, please ensure that the Centre is aware of this concern.  We cannot guarantee an allergy free environment due to the number of children and families seen at the Centre.

If your child carries emergency medication such as an EPI-PEN or a rescue inhaler, please ensure that the Centre and the staff member you are working with are aware during any service.

Sickness Policy

The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent strives to maintain a healthy environment for you and your child as well as our staff.

Hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the centre, in the waiting area, hallways, etc, and are for everyone’s use.

If you, your child, or any other person accompanying you is feeling ill on the day of an appointment, please call and reschedule as soon as possible.

If you attend an appointment while you or your child is ill, the staff member you are seeing has the right to send you home if she/he feels you are not well enough to be in the building.

Let’s all work together for our health.

Emergency & Weather Closures

At times of bad weather, please call the centre or check social media to ensure programs are happening.

Supervision

For your visit to the Centre, we have tried to make our waiting area interesting and entertaining to your child while you wait.  During this time, please supervise your child to ensure their play is safe and in the designated areas.

When siblings are also present in the Centre during therapy, please keep them with you at all times.

Children are never to be left in the lobby alone.

As our front doors are automatic, please keep your child near you and ensure that they do not exit the building alone.

Scheduling Appointments

Most appointments are scheduled by telephone.  Please respond to our messages asap by calling 519-354-0520 and speaking to our receptionist.  If you do not respond to our attempts to contact you, the file may be closed.
