Speech Therapy

(helps children learn speech and language skills)

The speech and language program is made up of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) and Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDA).  This program is for children from birth to beginning of grade one.  SLPs and CDAs work with you and others in the community to help you child’s speech and language grow.

The SLP looks at:

  • Your child’s understanding and use of language
  • How well others can understand your child
  • How your child plays with others
  • Feeding

Once a SLP meets your child, they might recommend therapy.  Therapy may include:

  • Individual or group therapy with a SLP or CDA
  • Monitoring and consultation
  • Home programs
  • Parent and caregiver training

What sets the stage for children to say their first words? View the video to find out how you, as a parent, can have the biggest impact in helping your child learn language.
