School Based Rehabilitation Services
The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent (CTC-CK) provides School-Based Rehabilitation Services (SBRS) in publicly funded Chatham-Kent schools. This includes the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB), St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB) and Conseil scholaire catholique Providence.
School-Based Rehabilitation Services that the CTC-CK is responsible for providing includes:
- Occupational Therapy (OT)
- Physiotherapy (PT)
- Speech and Language Pathology (SLP) focused on articulation, fluency, and voice
Who We Are:
The SBRS team is made up of Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Physiotherapists, Physiotherapy Assistants, Speech and Language Pathologists, and Communicative Disorders Assistants.
What We Provide:
The SBRS team can help with:
- The transition from kindergarten to grade one
- The transition from elementary school to high school
- Developing school-based goals for your child
- Providing one-to-one or group therapy based on child’s goals
- Equipment assessments
- Home programming for families
- Consultation and activity suggestions for school staff
- Making everything at school as accessible as possible for your child to increase classroom engagement
How to Refer:
For school-aged children and youth (those who are grade one eligible up to 21 if they are still actively in high school), referrals need to be completed by the school. A referral can be completed by your school principal.
An internal referral may take place if your child is currently receiving OT, PT, or SLP.
